Chinese arborvitae (lat. Platycladus orientalis) is a tree from the Cupressaceae family. The
leaves of this plant are used in TCM.

Bitter, astringent, cold by nature.
Returns to the lung, liver and spleen meridians.
Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Cools the blood, stops bleeding, resolves phlegm to stop cough, promotes hair growth. It is used in treating hematemesis, nosebleed, hemoptysis, hemafecia, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, cough due to lung heat, alopecia due to blood-heat, and premature whitening of hair.
