厚朴
Magnolia (Magnolia officinalis) is a plant from family Magnoliaceae. The dried root bark and branch bark of magnolia are used in TCM.
Taste, Characteristic, and Meridian
Bitter , pungent, warm in nature. Returns to the spleen,
stomach, lung and large intestine meridians.
Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Dries dampness and dissolves phlegm, lowering qi and removing fullness. It is used in treating stagnation of dampness in the pancreas, epigastric congestion and diarrhea, indigestion and qi stagnation, abdominal distension and constipation, phlegm and cough.
