Dried ginger is a Chinese medicine name. It is the dried rhizome of ginger (lat. Zingiber officinale), a plant from family Zingiberaceae.

Taste, Characteristic, and Meridian

Pungent, hot. Returns to the spleen, stomach, kidney,
heart and lung meridians.

Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine
 

Warms the middle energizer (Jiao), disperses cold, restores yang, promotes
circulation of qi and blood, warms lungs to reduce watery phlegm. Used for treating pain in the epigastrium and abdomen, caused by cold, vomiting, diarrhea, cold limbs and weak pulse, cough cased by cold pathogens.
