黄芪
Milkvetch (lat. Astragalus memeranaceus) is the plant from family Leguminosae. The roots of
this plant are used in TCM.
Taste, Characteristic, and Meridian
Sweet, slightly warm. Returns to the spleen and lung
meridians.
Value in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Strengthens and tonifies the spleen, elevates yang and lifts prolapses, nourishes wei qi and the surface of the body, promotes urination, pus discharge and tissue regeneration. Used for treating spleen qi deficiency, lung qi deficiency, qi deficiency with spontaneous sweating, deficiency of qi and blood, abscesses that are difficult to be ulcerated
and putrefied, or abscesses that are difficult to close.
